Role Summary

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules across major water infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. The role requires solid planning experience within construction and infrastructure environments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and aligned with contractual milestones.

This is a site-based engineering role supporting project management through structured planning, scheduling, and progress analysis.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed project schedules using recognized planning tools.
  • Prepare baseline schedules in coordination with project management.
  • Define work breakdown structures (WBS) for water infrastructure projects.
  • Align planning activities with contract requirements and milestones.

Progress Monitoring & Control

  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules.
  • Identify delays and propose recovery plans.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Track critical path activities and float analysis.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
  • Participate in progress and coordination meetings.
  • Support preparation of extension of time (EOT) documentation when required.
  • Provide schedule updates to senior management.

Risk & Performance Management

  • Identify schedule risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct variance analysis and performance tracking.
  • Support cost-control and resource planning alignment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience

Experience Requirements

  • Proven planning experience in construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in:
    • Water Projects
    • STP projects
    • Pipeline projects
    • Water tank construction
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling methodologies and reporting.

Certification

  • Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software certification is advantageous (if available).

Language Requirements

  • English: Fluent (Mandatory)
  • Arabic: Fluent (Mandatory)

Working Conditions

  • On-site role across Riyadh – Dammam – Jeddah – Mecca
  • Full-time engagement for the entire Four (4) Year project duration
  • Travel between project locations as required
